I was introduced to yoga 15 years ago at my local gym and decided to try it because I was looking to get more toned. I liked it, but it only had a “purpose” for my body.
As the years went by, I continued to go in and out of trying yoga and my interest turned to increasing my flexibility…again, yoga served a new purpose. And because of that, I let my yoga practice slip as I was only focused on fitness and wasn’t connecting to the mindfulness aspect of the “sport”.
It wasn’t until I started back again based on a referral from a friend that I started to hear the words of the teachers in a different way. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and realized I needed to do some internal, emotional review.  I needed to find a way to use my breath to relieve anxiety and maintain a positive healthy mindset. I was still challenging myself physically, but I connected to something new.
It was then that I learned that yoga was becoming a place and space for me to connect with myself, close my eyes, and reach inside, which I had never done before. I learned to expand my breath, calm my mind, and flex my belief system. I continued this journey and let yoga be my space for reflection, which is what lead me to taking Yin Yoga.
Shortly after I became Certified in teaching Yin and Restorative Yoga. I created a space that allows my students to rest, restore, and be still. I use music, poems, mindfulness statements, breath-work, and essential oils to nurture my students.
